It takes experience to master the art of fishing, and Captain Butch has mastered it.

Butch Eskew began fishing around the ripe old age of four. Early on he developed a hereditary bone abnormality called Perthes disease which allowed him to spend many of his formative years with his grandfather, Pawpaw, fishing along the banks of Lake Whitney. Butch’s father was a Navy man which resulted in life spent almost exclusively next to bodies of water, where he discovered his passion for fishing.

As he grew and became more active, his bone problems decreased and the bone damage disappeared, and normal growth began. His love for fishing increased and grew into guided fishing outings that he shared with his large extended family. As he fished with his own daughters, their husbands, and grandchildren, he discovered a pure joy in seeing the happiness on everyone’s face as they ventured out in the boat and returned with stringers full of fish.

One thing led to another, and fishing became a lifetime skill and activity that he knew anyone, any age could enjoy. He recognized there was not one thing he’d rather do in retirement than fish. So began Captain Butch’s Guided Fishing Tours.

Captain Butch has fished Lake Whitney and other lakes in Texas seriously for over 45 years. He knows the right hot spots and delivers on the catch.

His goal is for his clients to experience a fishing event to remember making memories along the way with stories to talk about for years to come. He is friends with his repeat customers who invariably bring in additional clients.

Not only will the clients catch fish; they will receive an education on all aspects of fishing, including locating, catching, and cleaning the fish. Captain Butch prides himself on boat safety and having fun while on the lake catching the “Big Ones”.

So if you’re new to fishing, a die-hard angler, just need a dose of ‘stress relief’ or you just want to feel alive, join Captain Butch out on the lake to mentor you and others in the pleasure and importance of recreation, self-fulfillment, and the thrill of the catch.
